Nick DePietroMember
and THAT is why i follow your journey on animalpak, thats why i watch all your videos, thats why i joined this site, thats why youre my favorite ifbb pro. relentless determination and motivation – i can surely attribute the intensity i train with to learning what effort truly is from you man!
Nick DePietroMember10 sets with 510lbs. Rex, you are not human
Nick DePietroMember315 paused incline for 12 yeeesh thats fuckin strong. another 50lbs on that and your chest should be a couple inches thicker
really like those high pull db rows – gonna have to steal those fron you for my next back session
Nick DePietroMemberI remember in a video last year you said the last real rest day you took was at the Olympia in like 2014 so thats crazy to me that you took that extra rest! but im glad you are taking some extra rest and trying a new approach and your body will thank you – and hopefully it works in your favor! im sure it will. worst case – you can always go back to what got you here
is the extra rest from only single sessions on those days your own doing, or matts advice, or part of the new plan?
Nick DePietroMemberdamn those are HUGE changes! with a proper offseason youll blow those away next time around
to improve what you want, do you plan on continuing to split up quads and hamstrings on different days, or mixing them together/upping frequency?
Nick DePietroMemberi cant speak for everyone but i wear the belt when i get those bad lower back “pumps”/cramps usually associated with water retention, and need the extra support during sets so i can function normally lol
shaun – when you write 3 working sets of 8, is 8 absolute mechanical failure for all 3 sets?
Nick DePietroMemberhappy new year matt!
I really like Q&A’s and i would like to see those continue – from you and the other athletes
it would also be cool to see collab training videos – i.e. you training with a pro or client or another camp jansen athlete training with another pro or high level competitor
and maybe some articles monthly e.g. a particularly effective workout you had/why, how you decide to making diet/training changes etc. maybe workout of the month type thing with sets/reps and video attached?
Nick DePietroMemberhappy new year roman!
i really respect the fact youre going out of your comfort zone and trying something new – i think sometimes the best approach is the one we havent done in a while.
as for the training, it sounds somewhat similar to what you were doing in 2013/2014 en route to your procard win, true?
Nick DePietroMemberlmao – just wanted to make sure if i tried it i wasnt doing the wrong thing!
Nick DePietroMemberfor the lying leg curls – are your feet in plantar flexion to start and then going into dorsiflexion?
Nick DePietroMemberi feel you on the outside factors affecting your training even when its not physical. when im out of my schedule/ comfort zone i always feel off. hope you had a great christmas!
and i laughed at your training video when you saw your friend was touching the bar during your set. id lose it – thats my biggest pet peeve. i always tell my spotter not to even think about touching it until i say “okay”
Nick DePietroMemberim the same as you with rest days – i hated them and didnt know what to do on them. what helps me is thinking about it in terms of hours compared to days off. like thinking hey, im giving my body a 20-30 hour reset and rest to build, versus “day off”
Nick DePietroMembereven on christmas the man doesnt stop!!!! merry christmas roman! #attackdogmode
Nick DePietroMemberRex – do you hit delts with less frequency? seems like you ran through the split twice without them this week?
Nick DePietroMemberSolid work man. those safety squat bars are no joke – very humbling
since the Olympia is very far away at this point, do you have any goals/plans physique wise, bodyweight wise, supplement/food/PED wise throughout the year? i.e. reach X bodyweight by some date, back off from training Y many weeks out, start prep Z weeks out, etc.
